Manage and delete teams
Give your team a new name, update discovery settings, or delete it at any time. Team owners and admins can manage these options.
We're rolling out navigation changes gradually, so some steps in this Help article may not accurately reflect what you see in the app. If you can't find Canva AI, your profile photo, or your Print cart on the homepage, go to More.
These options are only available to team owners and administrators. To create a team in Canva, begin a free trial or upgrade to Canva Business. Upgrading unlocks collaboration, premium features, and the ability to add or modify team members. Learn more on Create teams.
Rename a team
- From the homepage, select your account profile, then selectSettings.
- Select Team profile.
- In the Name section, select Edit.
- Enter a new team name.
- Select Save to finish.
You can also add a team description on the same Team profile tab.
Change your team discovery settings
Team discovery settings control whether your team appears in search and who can discover it (and request to join). For full details, see Team discovery and settings.
Make your school team discoverable
You can make your school team publicly discoverable, so other teachers and students at your school can find and request to join it.
- From the homepage, go to your account profile, then select Settings.
- Select Controls.
- Under Team access tab, click the (drop-down icon) beside ‘Who can join this team?’ and select 'Anyone can request to join'.
- In the Confirm your school team details pop-up, add your school team details.
- Select Confirm.
Once your School team is discoverable, teachers and students can search for your school and request to join.
Tip: Your School team is private by default. Only make it discoverable if you want others at your school to find and join your team.
As the team owner, you'll get email notifications when someone wants to join your School team. You can accept or decline membership requests. You can also add another admin to help approve or reject requests.
Delete a team
If you only have one team in your Canva account, you can't delete it. To delete a team, you must first create or join another one.
We delete your team after 14 days. You can't undo this action. Deleting your team removes all designs and files for everyone in the team.
If your school uses multiple teams, we don't recommend deleting default teams like Staff & Admin. Canva automatically places any teacher or staff member who isn't assigned to a specific school team in this default team.
Quick tip
Sure on deleting teams? Head over to Your teams now.
- From the homepage, select your account profile, then select Settings.
- Select Groups.
- If your team is currently subscribed to Canva for Teams, cancel your subscription first by going to the Billing tab. Learn how to cancel a Canva plan. Skip this step if you have a free team.
- On the group that you want to delete, select (more icon).
- Select Delete group.
Understand the difference between deleting, leaving, and removing
Deleting a team is different from leaving a team or deleting your account:
- To leave a team, follow the steps in Leaving a team.
- To remove other team members, read this article on Managing team members.
- If you want to delete your account, head over to Deleting your account.
Request deletion for Creator and Contributor teams
If you have a Creator or Contributor team, Canva can only deactivate your team. We do this to prevent designs using your library content from breaking. It also allows us to continue paying you royalties.
To remove your public profile and stop showing your library content in new designs, contact Canva support.
Cancel team deletion
You can cancel team deletion within 14 days. After 14 days, you can't recover your team or its designs.
- From the homepage, select your account profile, then select Settings.
- Select Groups.
- Select (more icon), then select Cancel deletion.
Manage connected accounts for school teams
School teams allow one connected account per user per platform (such as Google or Microsoft).
If you previously had multiple accounts connected, you can continue using them. If you disconnect one, you can't reconnect it if another account from the same platform is already connected.
Fix issues connecting another account
School teams support one connected account per platform. Disconnect an existing account before connecting a different one.
Use multiple connected accounts
If you connected multiple accounts before this limit, you can continue using them. You can't add new ones beyond the one-per-platform limit.
Resolve team access issues
If you can’t manage your team, make sure you’re in the correct team:
- From the homepage, select your account profile.
- In the Teams section, check whether your current team has a check icon next to its name.
- If needed, switch to the correct team.
You can also manage your teams from the Teams section. Select the right arrow next to your current team to open the Switch teams menu. Then, select the team name you want to switch to. The page reloads automatically and switches you to that team.
Teams you’re part of will be grouped by their organisation. Teams without an organisation (like those without a domain) will appear under Other teams.
If you’re still having issues, contact support and include your team name.
