Transfer your domain to another registrar

Canva lets you manage your website domain settings. You can edit your DNS records, change your nameservers or transfer your domain to another domain host or registrar.

This is available to all users who purchased a domain through Canva. For teams, only administrators and owners can access these settings.

What to expect

You can only transfer the registrar after 60 days from the purchase date, and it’s non-reversible.

When the Canva website domain is transferred to a new host, you'll be responsible for domain management and renewals in your new domain host.

We're rolling out navigation changes gradually, so some steps in this Help article may not accurately reflect what you see in the app. If you can't find Canva AI, your profile photo, or your Print cart on the homepage, go to

More.

Step 1: Review your Canva domain info

  1. On the homepage, select your account profile to open the menu, then choose
    Settings.
  2. Go to
Web domains. Here, you’ll see domains managed by Canva and third parties, their status, and expiry.
  3. Next to the domain name, select
    .
  4. Under Advanced settings, select Manage. From here, you can choose between changing your Canva domain nameservers, editing your DNS records, or unlocking the Canva domain to transfer to another domain host.

These options are only available after your domain set up is complete. See Step 2: Verifying your domain on our article Purchasing domains to publish websites.

Step 2: Transfer your domain registrar

  1. To transfer your domain to another domain host, select Unlock domain. When unlocked, the domain is ready to transfer and the settings can’t be customised.
  2. Confirm you’d like to unlock your domain. To proceed, select Continue.
  3. You’ll see the Transfer out status as UNLOCKED.
  4. Go to the registrar’s website where you’d like to transfer your domain to. You can follow their procedure for transferring a domain to their account.
  5. When asked for an Authorization code (AKA Auth code, EPP code), copy the “Auth code” from the earlier step.
  6. Finally, you’ll receive an email to accept or reject the transfer.

Transfers can take up to a week to complete. You can't transfer a domain that has been expired for a long time.

About the unlocked state

In the UNLOCKED state, the domain settings can’t be customised and the domain is ready for transfer. The domain will re-lock in a week if we didn’t receive a transfer request from another host.

You’ll also see your “Auth code,” which you’ll need later.

If you change your mind and don’t wish to transfer your domain, you can click Lock domain. However, this may not be possible if you’ve already initiated a transfer.
