Embedding designs and unpublishing embeds
Embed your Canva designs on websites and other platforms.
Embed designs
Note: You can embed a maximum of 100 Canva designs in another Canva design or doc.
- Create or open an existing design.
- From the menu bar above the editor, select Share.
- Select See all.
- Select Embed from the options.
- For your design to be embedded, it will be made public. Select Embed to confirm.
- Copy the HTML or smart embed link, whichever your website or platform supports (e.g. Canva for Education teachers can embed Canva designs on Moodle using HTML codes).
- Paste the embed code or link onto your website.
For platforms that don’t support HTML embed codes, we suggest using smart embed links. They work on many websites, including the following:
- WordPress.com
- Medium
- Any website with oEmbed support
Embed a page from the same presentation
You can copy a single-page ID link and paste it to a preferred page in your presentation. Here’s how.
- At the bottom of the editor, go to the specific page thumbnail and click on its three-dot icon, then select Copy link to this page.
- Go to the page where you’d like to embed the copied single-page ID link. Right-click and click on Paste.
Embed specific pages from another document or presentation
You can copy and paste a presentation’s design link or URL and select specific pages to show in another presentation or document. Here’s how.
- Copy the presentation design or URL link you’d like to embed.
- Then, paste it on your new presentation or document.
- To select the specific pages, click on the pencilicon (Edit link).
- From the Pages shown dropdown, select the pages you want to include in your document or presentation.
- Select Done.
All edits on the design will automatically update the embedded versions.
Premium elements on the design will be watermarked unless they're purchased.
Unpublish embedded designs
- Open the embedded design.
- From the menu bar above the editor, select Share.
- Select Embed from the options.
- Select the Delete embed link button.
Make sure to also remove the embed code or link from your website to prevent broken images from showing up.
View private embeds on third-party sites and platforms
Private embeds allow Canva designs or documents to be embedded on external websites or platforms while restricting visibility to authorised viewers only.
- Only Canva Enterprise and Education Districts team owners and admins can enable private embeds in Settings. Learn how to enable private embeds.
- If you’re on a single plan (Canva Free or Pro), embeds are public by default and can’t be restricted. To keep a design private, share your design with limited access. Learn how to manage share permissions.
To view a private embed on third-party sites, make sure that:
- You’re logged into Canva.
- You have permission to view the content.
- On the website, click on Accept cookies.
- The browser will ask you to allow “canva.com” to use cookies and website data while browsing on the website. Select Allow to continue.
- If you’re not logged in to your Canva account, simply follow the prompts to log in. Make sure to log in using the right account.
- If you’re already logged in, the page will reload to show the private embeds.
Can’t see the embedded design?
If you see the message “You don’t have permission to see this design,” it may be due to:
- You're logged into the wrong account
- The design is restricted to a team you're not part of
- The design has been deleted or is no longer shared with you
To fix this:
- Use the right account to log in, or
- Click on Request access to let the owner know. Learn more about requesting design access.
To see how many people viewed your design after embedding it on your website, open Insights from the editor menu bar. Learn more about it on Viewing design insights and analytics.
