Apply Brand Kit colors to your design

Teams can apply approved brand colors to any Canva design, including templates, using Brand Kit. Apply individual colors to elements, use Styles to apply your brand palette across a design, or use color themes to apply coordinated colors in one step. When a Brand Kit color is updated, you can update your design to stay on brand.

Key Terms

  • Hex Code: A six-digit code (e.g., #FFFFFF) that represents a specific color for digital use.
  • Brand Kit: Where your brand assets live, including official logos, fonts, colour palettes, and more.
  • Shuffle: An option when multiple combinations are set up in a colour theme, to easily apply different theme combinations across the entire design.

Apply brand colors to elements

Update individual elements to match your brand guidelines.

  1. Select any element, such as a shape, text box, icon, or background.
  2. Select the Color tile from the editor toolbar.
  3. Under the
Brand section, choose the approved color from your organization's palette.
  4. Repeat this for other elements as needed.

Apply brand colors across a template or design

Use color themes to quickly apply your brand colors across an entire template.

  1. Open a template or an existing design.
  2. Go to the
    Brand tab and select Colors.
  3. Select
    Apply, then
Shuffle to rotate through different combinations in the theme automatically until you find the best fit (if there is more than one combination in the theme).

Replace colors globally

Quickly replace off-brand colors across your entire design with a single action.

  1. Select an element that uses the color you want to replace.
  2. Open the Color tile from the editor toolbar.
  3. Select a replacement color from your
    Brand Kit palette.
  4. Select Apply to all pages at the bottom of the panel to update every instance of that color in your design.

Update designs after Brand Kit changes

Refresh older designs when your Brand Kit colors are updated.

  1. Open the existing design you need to update.
  2. Select an element that uses an outdated color.
  3. Select the Color tile and choose the updated brand color.
  4. Select Apply to all pages to replace every instance of the old color in your design.

Apply color themes

Color themes define how colors are applied across backgrounds, elements, and text. When applied, they update these elements together.

Use color themes to apply your brand colors consistently across your designs.

To apply a theme, select

Shuffle on a theme, then select it again to preview other combinations.

Color themes apply to backgrounds, text, and SVG graphics. They aren’t available in Canva Docs, Canva Whiteboards, emails, or Canva Sheets.

To create and apply color themes, see Add and apply color themes in Brand Kit.

Notes and limitations

  • Permissions: Only admins and brand designers can modify the colors stored in the organization’s Brand Kit.
  • Locking: You can’t change the color of an element that’s locked. Select the
    Unlock icon first.
  • Graphic Elements: Some complex graphics or third-party app content may have fixed colors that can’t be updated using the Brand Kit tools.

Troubleshooting

I can’t see my organization's Brand Kit.

Make sure you’re logged into your Enterprise or Team account. Brand assets aren’t available in personal accounts.

The "Apply to all pages" option isn't appearing.

This only appears when the color you’re replacing is used in more than one element in your design.

My colors look different after downloading.

If you’re preparing content for physical media, set up CMYK values in your Brand Kit and export the file as a PDF Print.
