Add tax ID for invoice identification
Quick tip
You can now add or update your non-exempt Tax ID directly from your Billing page. Any changes you make will apply to future invoices.
This is different from tax exemption. If you believe that tax has been incorrectly included on your invoice because you're a tax-exempt entity, see Request tax-exempt invoices.
Adding a Tax ID allows your VAT/GST/Tax ID number to appear on invoices, but it does not automatically make your account tax-exempt. Applicable taxes may still be charged.
- From the homepage, select your account profile.
- Select Settings.
- Select Billing.
- In the Billing details section, click Add or update.
- Under Invoice information, review or update your details.
- Under Tax ID, select Add tax ID.
- Enter or update your Tax ID and any required fields, then click Save.
Notes:
- Updates will only apply to future invoices.
- Existing invoices will not be changed.
- Adding a non-exempt Tax ID does not waive tax charges.
- If you're requesting a tax exemption, contact our Support team and provide your exemption certificate, exemption type, and invoice number for review.
FAQs
How long before changes appear on invoices?
Updated details appear on invoices generated after saving your changes. Current billing cycles aren't affected.
Why isn't my address showing on new invoices?
We’ve recently updated how billing details are collected to make invoices clearer and more accurate.
You may need to update your billing address, so your invoices stay accurate and the correct tax rate applies.
Your invoices will still show your country and postal code, but your full address won't appear until you update it in your account settings.
Does changing my billing address affect my subscription billing?
No, your active subscriptions continue normally. However, future invoices will use your updated address for accurate tax calculations.
What's the difference between tax exemption and adding a tax ID?
Tax exemption removes tax charges if you qualify as a tax-exempt business in the US or Canada. We may apply to remove tax charges on your invoice if you are a VAT/GST-registered business and your local country rules allow us to do this.
Adding a tax ID will just include the tax ID number on your invoice, but the tax charges will remain.
See Request tax-exempt invoices to learn more.
Can I add multiple billing contacts?
Yes, you can add additional billing contacts to receive invoice notifications alongside the primary account holder.
