Create flowcharts fast with Quick Flow in Canva
Use Quick Flow to speed up flowchart creation in Canva
Quick Flow helps you build flowcharts faster by auto-adding connected shapes and lines. It aligns elements, applies your most recent styles, and keeps everything tidy, so you don’t have to.
Quick Flow is available in all design types except Canva Docs.
Enable Quick Flow
- Go to and add a shape.
- Right-click the shape and select Enable Quick Flow.
Arrows will appear around the shape when Quick Flow is active.
Add connected steps
- Hover the shape until a preview appears.
- Click a directional arrow.
Quick Flow will:
- Add the next shape
- Connect it with a line
- Match your current styles
- Keep everything aligned
Shapes and lines stay connected as you build your flow.
Connect existing shapes
- Select a shape.
- Hover to reveal arrows.
- Drag an arrow toward another shape until it snaps into place.
Canva will:
- Format and align the connector
- Match your current style
Tip: Use the white dots to attach the line to any side or center point.
Replace a shape without breaking connections
- Select the shape.
- Open the shape menu (more icon).
- Choose a new shape.
Connections and line formatting will stay intact.
Flip a line
- Select the line.
- Click Swap line ends in the toolbar.
Tip: Canva uses the last shape, line, and color you applied. Update your styles and Quick Flow will follow suit.
Disable Quick Flow
- Right-click the shape.
- Select Disable Quick Flow.
Existing connections stay, but new Quick Flow appears will disappear.
Troubleshooting
Arrows not showing?
- Enable Quick Flow on the shape.
- Make sure it’s not locked.
- Ungroup the shape if needed.
Lines not matching your style?
- Quick Flow uses your most recent line and shape formatting.
- Update styles before adding new steps.
Shapes won’t connect?
- Drag from the arrow, not the edge.
- Make sure the shape isn’t grouped or off-canvas.
Quick Flow missing?
- Not supported in Canva Docs.
- Requires edit access.
- Some partner apps don’t support it.
- Refresh your browser or app.
