Create custom asset categories in Brand Kits
Custom asset categories let you organize your Brand Kit exactly how your team needs it. Create up to 40 asset categories for different types of brand assets like photos, graphics, icons, or any other content your brand uses.
This feature is available to Paid plans. For teams, only owners, administrators, and brand designers can set up Brand Kits.

Create and organize custom asset categories
- From the homepage, go to Brand.
- From the dropdown, select the Brand Kit you’d like to make changes to.
- Next to All Assets, select the (add icon).
- Select Asset category.
- Enter a name for your new category.
- Press Enter or Submit to create the category.
There are various ways to organize your asset categories:
- To reorder categories, click and drag them to your preferred position.
- To rename a category, click the (more icon) and select Rename.
- To remove a category, select Remove asset category from the menu.
Add content to custom categories
Adding Brand Templates and folders is not supported in personal Brand Kits.
Custom categories can hold different types of brand content, including mixed content in the same category:
- Brand assets: Upload photos, graphics, icons, illustrations, and other visuals.
- Brand Templates: Add Brand Templates to a custom category. The template also appears in the Brand Templates section.
- Folders: Add folders from Projects to keep related content together.
To add content to a custom category:
- From the homepage, go to Brand.
- Select your Brand Kit.
- Select the custom category you want to add content to.
- Select (add icon). and choose the content type (assets, templates, or folders).
Add guideline summaries, including do’s and don’ts
You can add guidelines and custom do’s and don’ts within each section of your Brand Kits, providing your team with clear, contextual guidance on how to use brand assets correctly and consistently when designing in the editor.
- From the homepage, go to Brand.
- From the dropdown, select the Brand Kit you’d like to make changes to.
- Select any of your asset categories.
- Select the (more icon) next to Guidelines.
- Select Edit guidelines. From here, you can update your asset category’s guidelines, including their do’s and don’ts.
- Select Save.
In the editor, your team will see these guidelines when they select any asset category.
Use custom assets in designs
- From the editor toolbar, go to Brand.
- From the dropdown, select the Brand Kit you’d like to use.
- Select any custom asset category your admins have set up.
- Select the assets to add them to your design.
FAQs
What's the difference between default and custom asset categories?
Default categories (Logos, Colors, Fonts, Brand Voice, Charts) have special features specific to their asset type. Custom categories are flexible containers for any other brand content.
Can I move or remove the Brand Templates section?
No. The add Brand Templates section is fixed in every Brand Kit and can’t be moved, renamed, or removed. It automatically shows all Brand Templates added to that Brand Kit.
Can I add Brand Templates to custom categories?
Yes. You can add Brand Templates to all custom categories, as well as the Logos category. When you add a Brand Template to a custom category, it also appears in the Brand Templates section. This gives your team multiple ways to find the template.
What’s the difference between adding a folder and creating a custom category?
Custom categories are sections within your Brand Kit where you organize assets. Adding a folder brings content from Projects into your Brand Kit. You can add folders to custom categories to keep related content together.
