Import Snowflake data into Canva
Snowflake is a cloud-based data platform helping organizations store, analyze, and share large volumes of data. Connect it to Canva Sheets to explore trends, build dashboards, and create data-driven visuals.
Prepare your Snowflake account
- Make sure you have an active Snowflake subscription.
- You will need your Snowflake account identifier, account locator, username, and password to sign in.

Follow these steps to connect your Snowflake account and begin importing data into Canva Sheets.
- Open a Canva Sheets design.
- In the floating toolbar, click Actions, then select Import data.
- Choose Snowflake from the available sources.
- In the Account Details window, enter your Snowflake account subdomain, select Next.
- Note: The subdomain should follow this format: xy12345.region.snowflakecomputing.com
- Select Connect to start authentication. The app will ask you to log in, based on how your Snowflake admin has set up access.
Import and use Snowflake data in Canva Sheets
Once connected, you can customize what data you want to import and how it's displayed. Select a Warehouse, Database, and Schema from the list.
- If you change the warehouse, the database, schema, and view options reset and reload for the new warehouse.
Step 1: Configure your data source
After selecting a data source (table, view, or Structured Query Language (SQL) query), you'll be taken to the configuration screen.
- For Tables and Views, use the Select Fields dropdown to choose the columns to import.
- (Optional) Select Add Filters to narrow down your dataset.
- (Optional) Select Add Sorting to organize the imported data.
- If you're using a SQL query, enter and configure your query to define the data that will be imported.
Step 2: Apply filters (optional)
Use filters to narrow down the data before importing:
- Select Add Filters to open the filter window
- Choose a field, then select a condition based on the field type:
- String: equals, contains, starts with, etc.
- Number: greater than, less than, equals, etc.
- Date: between, before, after, etc.
- Boolean: true, false
- Enter a value for the filter condition. Select Apply.
Step 3: Load data and import to Canva
Once your configuration is complete:
- Choose how many rows to import, or toggle Import Max Rows to use the full preview limit.
- Select Load data to preview the results. Select Done to import your data from Snowflake.
- Canva will format the results to fit the preview area layout.
- To refresh and update the preview, select Load Data again.
- Select Done to finalize import.
Answer common Snowflake connection questions
Do I need admin access to connect Snowflake data?
You’ll need your Snowflake subdomain, and possibly username and password, depending on how your Snowflake admin has configured access. If you still cannot connect, contact your Snowflake admin
Can I use Open Authorization (OAuth) or frictionless login (single sign-on)?
If it has been configured by your Snowflake admin, then yes.
Can I refresh my Snowflake data in Canva Sheets?
Yes. Select Edit data, then Refresh to run your query again using the saved settings so you see the latest data
Who can see my Snowflake data in Canva?
Anyone with access to your Canva design will see the imported data. They don’t need Snowflake access unless they want to refresh or modify the query.
Will changes in Canva update my Snowflake data?
No, Canva only imports data. Edits or updates in Canva do not sync back to Snowflake.
