Picking a spot
Picking the right spot can make your artwork stand out and prolong its quality. Check out these easy tips:
- Hang your print at eye level (160 cm or 63” from the floor). Adjust as needed based on factors like lighting or how it complements other wall decor.
- To prevent fading or damage, avoid hanging wall art in direct sunlight, high-traffic areas, and humid environments—extended exposure to these can cause colors to fade over time.
- If hanging multiple pieces, lay them out first and plan a cohesive arrangement. This avoids having to reposition them after hanging fixtures have been installed and prevents unnecessary wall damage.
Installing a fixture
Now that you’ve found the perfect spot, it’s time to install a fixture to hang your print. You may use screws, nails, adhesive hooks, or similar anchors—choose based on the weight of the wall art, which ranges from 1lb to 8lb, and what works best for your wall. For larger pieces, consider using multiple hanging points for extra stability.
- Measure the distance from the top of the frame to where the hanging hardware (if any) is located. This helps you know exactly where to place the screw or nail on the wall.
- Transfer your measurement to the wall. Mark the spot lightly with a pencil. Aim for the center of the frame or canvas width.
- Depending on the anchor type you choose, you may want to angle the hardware slightly upward for better support. Then hammer, screw, or otherwise affix the anchor to the wall. If using nails or screws, we recommend leaving about a small portion exposed to assist with hanging.
Hanging your print
Finally, hang your printed artwork and step back to enjoy your masterpiece!
Canvas
If there’s any, use the hanger or wire attached to the back of the frame by placing it over a fixture. Center your canvas and check that it’s straight, then step back and enjoy your new wall display.
Posters
Unframed posters arrive rolled in a tube or mailer, so flatten it first by gently pressing or weighing it down. Hang with pins or use an adhesive depending on your preference.
Framed posters have an attached hook or wire at the back for easy installation. This ensures that the hardware suits the size and weight of the poster and frame.
For wired canvas and posters, pull on the wire gently to adjust its tension; this helps to better control where the canvas or poster will sit on your wall.
