Join a learning session in Canva (for students)

Your teacher can invite you to collaborate in Canva using a learning session. Start creating with your classmates instantly. No sign-ups, no passwords, no waiting. Just scan a QR code or follow a link to begin.

Your teacher will share a QR code or link and a 6-digit code. 

1. Open your device's camera.
2. Point it at the QR code your teacher shared.
3. Tap the notification to open the link.
4. Enter the 6-digit short code
5. If you don't have a Canva account:
   • Enter your name
   • Choose an avatar
   • Select Join learning session
6. If you're already logged into Canva:
7. Select Join learning session (your display name and avatar are used automatically)

1. Go to the link your teacher shared
2. Enter the 6-digit code.
3. If you don't have a Canva account:
   • Enter your name
   • Choose an avatar
   • Select Join learning session
4. If you're already logged into Canva:
5. Select Join learning session  (your display name and avatar are used automatically)

You're in! You can now collaborate with your class.

The 6-digit code isn't working

It may have expired. Try:

• Checking with your teacher that the session is still active
• Making sure you’ve entered the correct 6-digit code
• Asking your teacher to share a new code

I can't edit the design

This can happen if:

• The session has reached the limit of 50 anonymous students
• The session has ended
• You're not logged in. Try logging in (Up to 100 signed-in students can edit)

The QR code won't scan

If your camera won't scan the QR code:

• Ask your teacher for the URL and enter the 6-digit code instead
• Make sure your camera can scan QR codes and has permission

Do I need a Canva account to join?

No. You can join as a guest using your name and an avatar.

Will my work be saved?

When the session ends, only the teacher can access the design. You can ask them to re-share it if you need access.

How long can I stay in a learning session?

Sessions last up to 2 hours or until your teacher ends it.

What happens if the teacher leaves a live learning session?

If the teacher leaves or closes the design, the session stays active for up to 30 minutes. After that, it ends automatically.

The teacher can start a new session anytime if needed.

Can I join from my phone or tablet?

Yes, learning sessions work on any device with a web browser.

If you can’t edit, it may be because:

• Your teacher has paused editing
  • If editing is paused, you’ll be able to edit again as soon as your teacher resumes the session.
• The session has reached the limit for anonymous editors
  • Try logging in to continue editing.
• The session has ended
  • Ask your teacher to start a new session.
• You’re not logged into the correct account
  • Check your account and log in again if needed.
