Manage who can comment on designs for Canva Education
As a K-12 school admin, you can control who can comment and who can edit or delete their own comments on designs across your school or district, helping keep student collaboration safe and comments on the record.
Default settings
Permission | Default |
Who can comment on designs | Everyone |
Who can edit and delete comments on designs | School team admins and teachers |
By default, students can add and view comments, but only teachers can edit or delete their own comments. This helps keep comment history available for review and supports student safety.
Change your commenting permissions
These settings are only available to K-12 District or School admins. This setting doesn't apply to Canva for Campus students by default.
- From the homepage, select your profile icon and go to Settings.
- Select Permissions
- Go to the Safety and collaboration section
- Under Who can comment on designs or Who can edit and delete comments on designs, select an option from the dropdown:
- Everyone
- School team admins and teachers
- School team admins only
- No one
- Select Save.
Set permissions for a specific team
For districts with multiple school teams, you can override district defaults for individual teams. This lets you apply different commenting settings without changing the default settings for your entire organization.

FAQ
Why can't I edit or delete comments?
Your ability to comment, edit, or delete comments depends on the permissions your District admin has set for your organization or team. If you think your access needs to change, reach out to your admin.
Can students edit their own comments?
By default, students can't edit or delete their own comments. This applies across the whole team unless your admin has changed the setting. If you're unsure about your team’s settings, you can check with your admin.
