Magic Answer is an AI-powered tool built into Canva AI for Canva Enterprise.
It searches the web or your team’s content and designs to provide fast, summarized answers to your questions.
Access Canva AI’s Magic Answer
Instead of searching through folders, ask Magic Answer. You can do this in two ways.
Option 1: Search your designs with Magic Answer
Use this when you’re looking for something specific, such as meeting notes, brand guidelines, or campaign updates.
- From the homepage, select Your designs.
- In the Search bar, enter your query.
- Start with question words like what, when, where, why, how, or who.
- End the query with a question mark (?) or use 5+ words to activate Magic Answer.
- Press Enter. Magic Answer will generate a response, including the source that shows the documents it pulled for reference.
- To continue exploring or ask follow-up questions, select Start a conversation to begin a thread with Magic Answer.
Option 2: Chat with Magic Answer in the Canva AI tab
Use this when you want to explore ideas or ask freely, ike brainstorming, summarizing updates, or checking in on team progress.
- From the homepage, select Canva AI.
- In the text box, type your question however you like, just as you would in a conversation.
- Select the Gear icon (Select a source for context).
- Select Canva designs to search content you and your team have access to.
- Select the Arrow icon (Submit) to get your answer.
- In the chat window, you can hover over the thumbnails to preview the file name.
- You can continue the conversation by asking follow-up questions.

Why can’t I see Magic Answer?
If you don’t see Canva AI’s Magic Answer:
- Make sure you’re part of a Canva Enterprise team.
- Ask your admin to enable the “Who can use team content to generate AI responses” setting. If you’re unsure who your admin is, check out Who’s my organization admin? to know more.
How should I write questions for Canva AI’s Magic Answer?
It depends on where you’re asking:
- In the Search bar (under Your designs):
- Use full questions, at least 5 words.
- Start with What/Why/How/Who, and end with a question mark (?) to trigger Magic Answer.
- In the Canva AI tab:
- Ask naturally. You don’t need a special format.
What do Canva AI’s Magic Answer responses include, and how can I verify the sources?
Each response from Magic Answer includes:
- A summarized answer based on your team’s content
- A Sources section with document thumbnails
To verify the source of an answer, hover over a thumbnail to preview the document title. This helps you check the original content and context behind the response.
Can others see my answers?
No. Magic Answer follows existing file permissions.You’ll only see content that you already have access to. Your team’s data stays secure within Canva.
What are the current limitations of Canva AI’s Magic Answer?
Magic Answer currently:
- Works only with text-based content (e.g. Docs, designs)
- Can’t analyze charts, images, or spreadsheets
- Supports English only
