Generate formulas with AI
- Select a cell where you want to add a formula.
- Type =, and a suggestion box will appear.
- Select Magic Formulas from the list.
- In the text box, describe what you want the formula to do (e.g., "Find the total revenue for Q1").
- Click Insert, and Magic Formulas will generate and apply the function to the selected cell.

On editing AI-generated formulas
Magic Formulas gives you a solid starting point, but you can always fine-tune the formula to fit your data:
- Adjust cell references to ensure it applies to the right dataset.

- Use AutoFill to apply the formula across multiple rows or columns.
Fix common Magic Formula issues
Magic Formulas don't appear in my Sheets actions.

The formula doesn’t seem right.
If your prompt is mistyped or unclear (e.g., missing spaces or incorrect words), you might see a message that the formula is incorrect.
- Magic Formulas will suggest a fix based on your prompt.
- Select the suggestion to insert the corrected formula.
- Select the ? icon to view an explanation of what the formula does.
Tip: For best results, write your prompt in clear, natural language (e.g., “Sum the values in column B”).
