Add popular music to designs

With Canva’s popular music library of over half a million tracks, you may easily add trendy songs straight to your design.

Who can access Canva’s popular music library?

  • Canva Teams with 10 or less members, Canva Pro, and Canva Education
  • United States, United Kingdom, parts of Europe*, Canada, and Australia

*Only in France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Norway, Croatia, and Luxembourg

  1. From the editor side panel, select the
Audio tab. If it’s not there, select
Apps first to see it. Alternatively, select
    Elements. Under categories, choose
    Audio.
  2. Search by title or artist’s name. You may also browse or filter by genre.
  3. Select the track you want to add.
  4. Adjust and trim the music. See Adjust volume, trim, and clip audio tracks to learn more.

To see more from an artist, hover over a track on the editor side panel. Select the

More icon that appears, and select View more by artist below the title.

You can also generate music, sound effects, and voiceovers using Canva AI. To learn more, see Generate AI music, sound effects, and voiceovers in Canva.

  • All popular music tracks have a maximum duration of 30 seconds when previewed and 60 seconds when added to a design.
  • Popular music can be used for personal projects and content only. Examples include travel vlogs, wedding videos, and holiday or birthday cards. For our education users, you can add music to lesson plans, homework materials, and more. Popular music can’t be used for any commercial purpose (including e.g. selling or promoting a product or business). Learn more about our Popular Music Licence Agreement.
  • Popular music is currently not available to Canva for Nonprofits, Canva Teams with 11 or more members (including offline subscriptions), and free accounts.
  • You can’t purchase one-off licences for popular music. Upgrade to Canva Pro if you want to use popular music in your designs.

If you’re collaborating with someone on a free plan or on Canva for Nonprofits or if they’re outside the permitted regions, the popular music track will appear as “not available” to them.

They can still edit the design and download it without the track. However, to download a design with popular music, they need to upgrade to Canva Pro.

Popular music is currently only released in the following regions: United States, United Kingdom, parts of Europe*, Canada, and Australia. We’re hoping to enable it in more regions soon!

In the meantime, feel free to explore our audio tracks and sound effects.

*Only in France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Norway, Croatia, and Luxembourg

Why can’t I find a track from an artist?

Currently, Canva’s popular music library includes a large selection of tracks from artists who are represented by Warner, Sony, or Merlin. If you can't find a particular track, that means it's not part of our collection right now. We're hoping to welcome even more artists to Canva in the future, so watch this space!

You can search directly by artist name in the search bar to browse available tracks from that artist. Results will show all tracks from that artist currently in our library.

Canva conducts audio fingerprint checks for music uploaded by users. If the music you uploaded infringes copyright, you won’t be able to publish your design with audio.

This also applies to music uploaded on Ditto, as it's licensed by our partner Merlin. Please note that Merlin controls the copyright to any content uploaded on Ditto.

Seeing a copyright block for music you uploaded?

If you created the track or have a license to use it, you’ll need to show proof of your rights. Learn how to prove you own the audio.
