Charged twice for a Canva plan

Some banks may keep recurring subscriptions active, even if the physical card is cancelled or expired.

They do this to help avoid service interruptions, using automatic card-update services so recurring payments, like subscriptions, can continue.

I was charged twice for a Canva plan

What can cause this

  • You might have another Canva account.
  • You might have more than one Canva team.
  • A failed payment was pushed through after several attempts.

What to do

  • Check if a failed payment has pushed through after several attempts.
  • Check if you have other accounts subscribed to Canva Pro, Canva Teams, or Canva Business. If you find the account being charged, you can cancel the plan, remove the stored payment method, or delete the account.
  • Switch to a different team and check your invoices.
  • If you still need to, get more help with charges you didn't expect.

Quick tip

Received an unfamiliar Canva payment? Look it up to learn what it's for.

Understand a duplicate charge from Canva

For Canva Pro, you're billed either every month or once a year for your plan.

For Canva Teams or Canva Business, you’re also billed either every month or once a year. But you may get quarterly bills whenever team members are added or removed.

If you notice a double charge on your bill, we suggest doing the following.

Check if you're in an account with an active Canva plan

  1. From the homepage, go to
    Settings.
  2. Select
    Billing.
  3. Under Subscriptions, you'll see if you have an active Canva plan.

Check if you have more than one Canva account

You might have multiple accounts with Canva Pro, Canva Teams, or Canva Business. This can happen if you've used different email addresses, social media logins, or signed up using services such as Google, Microsoft, or Apple. Found the account but don’t remember your password? Reset your password.

To know which account was charged, go to the Billing tab in Settings. If there’s a chance you upgraded to a Canva plan on your mobile device, review your invoices on the App Store or on Google Play as well. Don’t need it anymore? Cancel your Canva plan.

Check if a payment that previously failed pushed through

Canva plans renew automatically on your billing date. We retry the payment numerous times over a few days, but will eventually stop which means your subscription expires and you are moved to a free plan.

Sometimes, the charge goes through after a few tries. This may appear as a double bill, especially if it's close to your next billing date.

If you followed everything above and think your payment details were used for Canva purchases without your permission, contact us with the following details:

  1. Invoice number, Apple receipt ID, or Google order number: include a copy or screenshot, if you have
  2. Charge amount and date
  3. Email addresses you could have used to sign up

If the charge was for an element you purchased, read Charged again for a purchased element.
