Publish Canva websites
You can publish your Canva designs as websites using free domains, custom domains, or your own existing domain.
Open the Publish Website settings
- Open your design in Canva.
- Select Publish Website.
- The Website panel will open on your screen.
If you're using a presentation or other design type:
- Select Share.
- Select See all.
- Select Website.
- The Website panel will open on your screen.
You can turn most design types into websites, even if you didn't start with a website template. Here's how different designs appear when published:
- Video designs play in a video player
- All other designs open in presenter view (like a slideshow)
- For a scrolling website layout, use Magic Resize to convert your design to website format or start a new design using the Website template.
Choose your domain type
Pick how you want to publish your website:
Free Canva domain
Perfect for testing and personal projects. See Publishing websites to a free domain for setup details.
The domain options below apply to Website designs only. If you're working from a mobile website or Link in Bio template, your site publishes to a canva.link address only — custom domain options (free .canva.site, purchased, or BYO) are not available for this design type. To access these options, resize your design to a Website template or create a new design using a Website template.
Purchase a new domain
Get your own custom domain name. See Purchasing domains for instructions.
Connect your existing domain
Use a domain you already own (requires DNS setup). See Using your own domains for details. If your team has a default domain, it will be selected automatically when you publish your website.
Set up your website settings
Edit each page’s web address (URL) and title:
- Set your website title and favicon
- Write page descriptions for search engines
- Choose privacy settings (password protection, search visibility)
- Customise individual page URLs and titles
Learn more about website settings and page customisation.
Review and publish your website
Preview your website’s mobile layout while editing
Review your website's mobile experience in real time while you edit.
- Open your website design in the Canva editor.
- While designing, select Publish website. The Mobile Preview panel opens and displays a live mobile view of your website.
- Continue editing your website. Any changes you make to text, images, layouts, or sections are automatically reflected in the Mobile Preview panel.
- Review how your content adapts to smaller screens in real time. For example, elements displayed side by side on desktop may stack vertically on mobile to improve readability and usability.
- Make adjustments as needed until you're happy with the mobile experience.
- To close the Mobile Preview, select (Close) in the top-right corner of the Website panel.
Run Final checks before publishing:
- Domain settings: Make sure you've selected the right domain. If your team has a default domain, it will be selected automatically. You can change this to another connected domain before publishing.
- Page URLs: Check for typos or duplicate addresses.
- SEO settings: Make sure each page has unique titles and descriptions.
- Navigation: Confirm your menu structure makes sense.

For Canva Education users: Teachers need to approve a website first before a student can publish it. Learn more about Approving designs (for teachers) and Getting design approval (for students).
If you’re a Canva Free user, a 'Designed with Canva' footer will appear at the bottom of your published website. This footer includes Canva's Privacy Policy and can't be removed on a Free plan. To publish without the footer, upgrade to Canva Pro.
You can interact with 3D elements on published websites. For more details, see 3D Elements.
