Trim videos and change scene duration

Trim or lengthen videos, and change scene duration to your liking.

This feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet.

The Trim icon is only visible on videos added to a static design. If you’re editing a video design, trimming works differently. See Create and edit videos to learn how to trim videos in the timeline.

Trim or lengthen videos

Trim or lengthen videos to give you more room to experiment with your design.

  1. On your design, click on the video you want to edit.
  2. On the toolbar above the editor, click the
trim icon. You’ll see highlighted and greyed out parts of your video above the editor.
  3. Drag any of the sliders on the ends of the highlighted part of the video to shorten or lengthen it.
  4. Click on Done to save.

If the

error icon shows up on your video, follow the steps found in My video won’t playback

Save time on finding key moments in your videos. Auto-trim or Highlight analyses and instantly trims your videos to their most interesting parts.

Auto-trim videos

  1. On your design, select the video you want to edit.
  2. On the toolbar, select
    trim icon.
  3. Select Auto-trim for a single-trim to tidy the start and end of your video.
  4. Wait for a confirmation that trimming has been applied.

Select Highlights

Highlights

  1. On your design, click on the video you want to edit.
  2. On the toolbar, click the
    trim icon.
  3. Select Highlights to trim your video into multiple short clips.
  4. On the right-side panel, select the clips you’d like to keep. Choose in the order that you’d like them to appear.
  5. Click Add selection to design. The clips will be placed on the timeline as separate pages/elements.

If you’d like to adjust the results from Auto-trim or Highlights, you can still manually trim your video (see previous section).

When using video templates, scenes will follow the longest clip on a page. For example, if you have an 11.0s video on your page, the scene will also be 11.0s long.

Change video scene duration

  1. On your timeline at the bottom of the editor, click to select the scene you want to edit.
  2. Hover your mouse cursor over the start or end edge of the scene until the trim handles show at the edge.
  3. Drag them to shorten or lengthen the scene.

Jump to accurate parts of your video by pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard.

  • Right arrow key - Jump forward
  • Left arrow key - Jump backward

Hold the shift key while pressing the arrow keys to move faster.

Edit page timing without a video timeline

If you're working on a presentation, social post, or another non-video design, you won't see a video timeline. You can either:

  • Set slide duration using the Edit timing button on the toolbar, or
  • Edit your slide as a video

Set slide duration

Slide duration sets how long a slide or page displays on screen. To set the duration for single or multiple pages, select the [ClockIcon |M] Edit timing button on the toolbar. See Set slide duration in your presentation to learn more.

Edit your slide as a video

  1. From the editor page thumbnail, select the page you want to edit.
  2. Go to
    (More), then select
    Edit as video.
  3. Drag either slider at the edge of the highlighted section to shorten.
  4. To lengthen the video:
  5. Select
    Add media/blank.
  6. Select from the following options to add the same video:
    • Uploads
    • Stock videos
    • Stock photos
    • Blank
  7. Select Done to save.

How can I share designs with videos or animations?

You can download your designs as MP4 videos. You can also directly share them on social media, or schedule them for later.

Select Preview above the editor to preview your design before downloading.

Can I set the duration for all slides at once?

Yes. For non-video designs, you can set the duration for all slides at once by switching on the Apply to all pages button. See Set slide duration in your presentation for detailed steps.
