Map data fields in Salesforce

The Salesforce administrator needs to map the data fields from a brand template to fields in a Salesforce object. This way, data from the Salesforce object can autofill placeholders in a Canva design.

The following steps are guidelines for using Canva for Salesforce app on the Salesforce platform.

The Canva for Salesforce app is not yet available via the Salesforce AppExchange directory. To install the app, go to Salesforce.

Step 1: Sync brand templates

A team’s brand templates are not immediately available in Salesforce. Here’s how to sync them.

  1. In Salesforce, open the Canva app via the App Launcher.
  2. On the Canva Admin page, select Fetch Canva Templates.

Step 2: Create a template mapping

A template mapping shows how data fields in a brand template connect to fields in a Salesforce object, determining how data is populated in a design.

  1. Navigate to the Canva Designs page.
  2. Select one of the available brand templates.
  3. Click New Template Mapping.
  4. In the Map data to template window, select a Salesforce object.
  5. Click Select object.
  6. On the Salesforce fields column, select the data field for the brand template.
  7. Click Finish and Activate mapping.

What happens if a field is unmapped?

You don’t have to map all of the available fields. If a field is unmapped, the placeholder value in the template will remain as-is in the generated design.
