Upload media from your device
Upload photos, videos, audio, or folders from your device and use them in your designs.
If you want to import files from your social media and cloud drive accounts, see Import images and videos from social media or cloud storage.
You can also upload images while working offline. To learn how, set up offline editing.
If you’re having trouble uploading your files:
- Check our Upload formats and requirements article to see if your file type or size is accepted.
- When uploading folders, ensure that all files inside them meet our file type and size requirements. Please note that uploading folders isn't available on mobile.
- If your files have embedded images in an unsupported format, your upload may not go through. You’ll have to remove the embedded images or convert them into a supported format.
- Please note that uploading folders isn't available on mobile.
- Uploading in bulk may result in errors.
Upload media from your device
- On the editor side panel, select the Uploads tab.
- Click Upload files. To upload a folder, select and select Upload folder.
- Select the files or folder that you want to upload. You can also drag them from your computer folder to the Uploads tab.
- To use your upload in your design, click on it from the side panel.
To find all your uploads, select Projects from the homepage side panel.
On the owner dropdown, select your name to view your projects or Any owner to view all projects, then select the Uploads folder, where you can also download or delete them.
To view your uploaded folders, go to the Projects tab.
If the Upload media button doesn’t work, try restarting your browser or using a different browser or device. If you can’t find the Upload media button, it may be due to Brand restrictions. Reach out to your Brand Admin to lift the restrictions for uploads or to update your role profile.
Organise uploads with folders
You can now organise your uploads using folders within the Uploads tab.
To create a folder
To create a folder:
- On the editor side panel, select the Uploads tab.
- Go to the Folders tab.
- Select Create folder.
- Enter your preferred name under Name. You can also choose to share your folder with your team and select their access permissions.
- Select Create folder. You’ve now created a new folder.
To move your uploaded files to folders
To move your uploaded files to folders:
- On the editor side panel, select the Uploads tab.
- Go to any of the item tabs and hover over the file/s you’d like to move to a folder.
- Select the icon on the corner of your file and select Move.
- Choose your preferred folder and select Move. You can also select Create new if you want to create a new folder.
To upload files, folders, and designs to an existing folder
To upload files, folders, and designs into an existing folder:
- On the editor side panel, select the Uploads tab.
- Go to the Folders tab.
- Select the folder you’d like to upload files to.
- Select your preferred action: Add design, or Upload.
- If you selected Add design, you’ll be able to browse your existing designs and select which ones to move. Select Move to add it to your folder.
- If you selected Upload files or Upload folder, you’ll be prompted to select the files or folder from your computer. Choose the file/s or folder you’d like to upload and select Open.
You can also perform other actions with folders by selecting the icon next to the folder name.
- Select Details to view folder information such as where it’s currently saved, number of items, owner, date modified, and date created.
- Select Share to provide access to your folder to other users.
- Select Delete to delete a folder.
Who can see my uploads?
Only you can access your uploaded files.
If you want to share them with your team, add them to a folder first, then share the folder with your team.
Is there a storage limit for uploads?
- Canva Free includes up to 5 GB of media.
- Canva Pro includes up to 100 GB.
- Canva Business includes up to 500 GB.
- Canva Enterprise includes up to 1–5 TB.
- Canva Teams includes up to 1 TB.

Is there a way to check how much storage is left for your Canva account?
Currently, users are not able to check how much storage they have left. However, if you have a Free Canva account, you will receive a notification when you exceed 80% of your allocated storage.
