What you’ll learn

  • How to turn any Canva design into a checkout
  • Where to place a payment link or QR code in your design
  • How to set up a PayPal Payment Link, step by step

Getting someone to the checkout is a huge deal. Think of all the steps it takes to get them there: you had an idea, set your pricing, and made something that got them to linger, read to the end, and come back.

So by the time someone’s ready to pay, it’s got to be the smoothest step yet.

What if your customers could pay right there and then — without ever leaving your design? Straight from the wow-worthy pitch deck, the beautiful brochure, or the scroll-stopping post that won them over in the first place.

Turn any Canva Design into a checkout

Accepting payments can be as simple as three steps: Design it. Share it. Get paid.

If you’re selling a service, shifting a product, raising funds, or rallying people to an event: Just add a PayPal Payment Link, button, or QR code to your Canva design — and you've got a checkout that's ready to go.

You don't have to set up a web shop, stitch together a payment journey, or pay any monthly fees. And if you're selling in-person, you can skip sorting out a point-of-sale system or dealing with cash.

Instead, the design that drew someone in is the same one that takes the payment, so it all happens in one place. Presentations, posters, social posts, websites — you name it.

How does it work for the person paying? Once you've added the payment link, anyone who clicks or scans it lands on a checkout hosted by a familiar service: PayPal.

They don't even need a PayPal account of their own — the checkout takes PayPal, cards, and, where available, Pay Later and Venmo, with PayPal's fraud protection.

It’s available in 200+ global markets, with payments accepted in 23+ currencies and 25 languages to support sales worldwide.

Tips: How to design a payment moment

Where you put your payment link is a design decision, just like everything else on the page. The trick is putting it where the eye already wants to go.

Try these placement tips on your next design:

  • For printed designs, like a poster, café menu, or market stall: Add a QR code where the eye naturally ends up. Think right by the price, with clear space around it so it scans cleanly. This helps it feel like part of the layout, rather than an afterthought.
  • For online designs, like a post, a presentation, or a Canva website: Put a link or button under the offer, beside the preview, on the slide that’s designed to convince them. Style it to your own colors and type so it blends into the look and feel.

Create your first payment link

Here’s how smoothly you can set up PayPal Payment Links and add them to your Canva designs.

Step 1: Set it up

  1. Go to Apps in Canva and search for the PayPal Payment Links app.
  2. Open it, then connect your PayPal Business account or set one up, without leaving Canva.
  3. You’ll see two tabs: Create and Manage. Select Create to name your product or service, set a price and currency, and add a description — if you're offering a simple service or digital product, that's everything you need. Selling something physical? You can add options like size, color, or shipping.
  4. Select Build, and your checkout page is ready.

Step 2: Add your payment link to a digital design

  1. Navigate to the Manage tab, where your new link lives.
  2. Here you can choose the format — a link, a button, or a QR code.
  3. Next, select Embed, and it will drop into your design. Tip: For something digital, like a pricing presentation you'd send a client, a link or button works best.
  4. When your design's ready, use the Share button to save as a PDF, share as a website, or create a public view link.
  5. From there, the payment goes wherever your design goes. Your client opens the presentation, taps the link, and you're paid.

Step 3: Add a QR code to anything you print

A QR code is a great choice for anything physical; someone can pay the second they see it. Put it on a flyer, a menu, a table tent, a poster in the window — anything you can point a phone at.

  1. In Manage, open the product you already set up (no need to create it twice), choose QR code, and select Embed.
  2. Resize and reposition it to fit your design, then print it or post it.
  3. One scan takes them to a PayPal-hosted checkout, where your clients or customers can pay however suits them.

Get paid straight from your designs

If you're already selling, this slots straight into what you do — just add a payment link to your design. And if it's an idea you keep coming back to but haven’t quite taken the plunge? Now there's a fast track to making it a reality.

PayPal has helped millions of creators, entrepreneurs, and small businesses get paid online, in person, and now straight from their designs. So why not you, too?

“The moment you receive a payment from a stranger, something shifts. You start thinking differently about your pricing, your time, your next offer. You might be surprised how fast 'I do this on the side' becomes 'this is my business,’” says Vinod Sirimalle, Director of Product at PayPal.

Start inspired with these templates

You don't even have to start from a blank page. Check out our collection of template designs — make one yours, add your details and link, and it's ready to share.

  • Pitching a service? Try a clean proposal or pricing deck with the link on the closing slide.
  • Selling something to download? Add a product or template preview with the link right by the image.
  • Selling in-person? Go for a poster, menu, or market-stall sign with the QR code by the price.
  • Running an event or raising funds? Try a flyer or registration graphic with the link or QR by the date.

Whatever you’re creating, it can do more than look good — it can get you paid, too.
