Pear Deck and Canva join forces to create beautiful, interactive presentation slides

We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Pear Deck⁠(opens in a new tab or window), the popular platform helping teachers engage students in proven instructional strategies using Google Slides and PowerPoint Online.Teachers have already been importing visuals and slides designed on Canva into Pear Deck for more powerful formative assessment in real time. Now, Canva Education’s Template Team has created a series of ready-to-use, editable templates specifically with Pear Deck in mind!

Here's how to transform your Canva presentation slides into an interactive presentation slides using Pear Deck:

• Login to your Canva account and search for “Pear Deck” templates⁠(opens in a new tab or window). Canva designed a series of templates specifically for Pear Deck including Science, Social Studies, Math, Trivia, About Me, and SEL.
• Once you’ve selected a presentation template, you can edit using Canva’s elements, text, photos and other graphics.
• Once you’re happy with your presentation slides, click on the three dots in the top right corner and share as a Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Open Google Drive. Upload (or drag and drop) your PowerPoint presentation. After uploading, select “Open With” and select “Google Slides”. Select “File”. Select “Save as Google Slides”. Tip: Some PowerPoint features can't be displayed in Google Slides; make edits to these slides as needed.
  

• With the Pear Deck⁠(opens in a new tab or window) for Google Slides Add-On make your lesson interactive. If you don't know what Pear Deck for Google Slides is, click here⁠(opens in a new tab or window). Pear Deck is free for teachers to try and the premium Pear Deck offers additional features.
• To add interactivity, click on the Pear Deck side bar and select which type of question to ask students: Text response, multiple choice, number response, website, Drawing response or Draggable response. You can also record or upload audio files for your lesson. Tip: you can only ask students one type of response per slide. Also, you can customize your own questionnaire⁠(opens in a new tab or window) to a have more interactive session.

Tip: You can also convert PDF to PPT⁠(opens in a new tab or window) with Canva or create questions slides⁠(opens in a new tab or window) for your presentations.

• Once you’re ready, click the Start Lesson button to start your interactive lesson as a presentation or assign as a Student-Paced activity. Enjoy your interactive presentation!
