Part of educating students and teaching them to become innovative, solutions-driven adults is helping them learn about important events throughout history and the lessons they can learn from each. To make your next history lesson engaging, we’ve created a free and downloadable history lesson plan that allows students to think outside the box and use their critical thinking skills.
In this history lesson plan, students will be asked to research significant world events throughout history and create an infographic that will help consolidate their research.
In this lesson plan, students will learn to:
- Research significant world events. Students will be asked to take a broad approach to this research, and then focus on a world event that interests them most.
- Explore the impact of these historical events. Students will be asked to use their critical thinking skills and assess the impact these events have on the world and different societies.
- Consolidate this information and communicate it through design. Students will be asked to communicate this knowledge by creating an infographic and present these ideas to the class.
Students will then be given an activity, where they can use Canva to create their own poem. To take part in this lesson, students will require the following:
- Access to a computer or mobile device
- Internet connection
- A Canva login
To take the lesson one step further, have students build on their infographic, including another three significant events and impacts. Students can place them in sequential order. Or you can have them make predictions of possible events and add them to their infographic. These predictions can be justified in some way through research and data
