Natural lighting is your best friend when shooting a profile photo. Experiment with the shots to find your best angle as you take pictures. Don’t be afraid to retouch your photo, apply filters, or adjust the brightness. Then, spruce it up with a frame or a custom design on our PFP maker.

If your profile picture is blurry or pixelated, it may be too small. To fix this, upload an image with a better resolution. In some cases, blurry profile photos might have the wrong aspect ratio. Most profile pictures require an aspect ratio of 1:1 (square). To fix this, crop your image into a square and reupload it.

There’s no hard and fast rule for changing PFPs, but most people update them at least once a year. In addition, it’s good to change your profile picture for important milestones, like your graduation, wedding, or dream holiday. Use our tools to make any profile picture aesthetic.

YouTube recommends a profile picture of 800 x 800 pixels (an aspect ratio of 1:1). If you create a YouTube profile picture with the right size, the image will be clear and sharp. Also, although it’s a square photo, YouTube crops your PFP into a circle.

The size of an Instagram profile picture should be 320 x 320 pixels. On Facebook, profile pictures should be 170 x 170 pixels. Take note that these platforms crop the pictures into circles.

You can upload video clips in the MOV, GIF, MP4, MPEG, MKV, and WEBM formats, with a maximum upload size of 1GB. If the video has a transparent background, we suggest uploading it as a GIF.

You can upload photos, too. If you’re uploading JPEG/JPG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, or WebP images, make sure your file is:

Under 50MB in size
Not more than 250 million total pixels (width x height)
If it’s a WebP, only static files are supported

If you’re uploading SVG images, make sure your file is:

Under 3MB in size
Between 150 to 200 pixels wide
Saved with an SVG Profile of “SVG 1.1”
